Does replacing a motherboard erase laptop data?
You shouldnt lose data when replacing a laptop motherboard but it could affect security settings including Bitlocker which will probably need to be unlocked with a Bitlocker key which you will need.
The key is usually kept in your Microsoft account.
If you are unable to find your key and your motherboard has a major fault then the data may not be able to be unlocked which may cause data loss.
If laptop is still partially working then we can deactivate the Bitlocker.
