Onsite in St Andrews to help with WiFi issues as well as issues with CCTV, SONOS, emails and browser running on Windows Vista
This job involved us going onsite in St Andrews.
- We had to work out the issue of the WiFi dropping out from the modem router which was causing the SONOS sound system to drop out.
- CCTV wasnt recording which seemed to be that the power adapter had failed.
- We had to try and fix some compatibility issues with the emails and browser running on an old operating system.
Checking a faulty HDD in an old iMac A1225 from a customer in Cottles Bridge
The customer from Cottles Bridge dropped off their old iMac to us which had suddenly displayed a flashing folder icon. This seemed straight away to be something with the HDD. We dismanteled the iMac and took out the HDD to test.
The HDD had failed mechanically and needed to go to a data recovery center for recovery. HDD was given to the customer so they could take it to their desired centre.
Onsite in Greensborough close to St Helena – iMac to Mac Mini Setup & Data Transfer
We had to go onsite to a customers place in Greensborough but more closer to Briar Hill and St Helena. This job required us doing the following:
- Started work on migration of data but had issues because of the age so had to bring back to workshop which required multiple attempts at migration before working.
- Cleaned the Mac Mini up a little bit after migration
- Setup a microphone so the customer could user Hey Siri, but they had bought an non-compatible ‘Hey Siri’ microphone so we just setup the Googles version in Chrome.
- Fixed an Apple ID issue
- Transferred pictures to an external Thunderbolt drive because the main drive had a small amount of space
- Updated a Fitbit watch
- Fixed a small issue with an iPhone
Helped someone in Hurstbridge with 2 x MacBook repairs (USB-C and Power Delivery Failure)
A customer in Hurstbridge came to us to get two MacBooks repaired. One was of the utmost importance because data was needed from the MacBook.
- First MacBook was able to be repaired for use but the SSD drive was damaged and would of required specialist data recovery which would have been expensive and wasnt that important.
- Second MacBook was the most important. It had to be sent interstate to someone who is well versed in these types of repairs and the MacBook was usable and data recoverable. After receiving this one back we created a time machine backup so the data is safer than before.
Customer from Diamond Creek with HP Pav x360 touchpad failure and needed replacement battery
Customer who came from Diamond Creek, issue with laptop where touchpad wasnt working upon inspecting the motherboard found small spots of corrosion on the board and also a complete crack in the corner of the motherboard where the DC Jack sits, which looked to be from damage to that part of the laptop possibly a drop?.
There wasnt many components around that section but may have caused an issue never the less. Motherboard had to be taken for component level repairs to repair the touchpad. We then replaced the battery with a Genuine HP battery.
